Primary Art: LDS Art for Primary-Age Children

While the artwork used in LDS church Primary sharing time and classes can usually be found through church distribution, there are a number of beautiful paintings that can be obtained from other sources that have gospel themes and are geared towards children. These come in the form of books, fine art to be placed on walls, art prints in very small scripture marker size to large wall-mounting size. Children benefit from being surrounded by gospel-centered primary art.

Books are a wonderful source of primary art, and children love to sit and look at them, take them to church and other places, and read them. Some artists produce books that are entirely pictures, and a new wave has started creating gospel art scenes in photographs. Sometimes of children in scripture attire, sometimes adults depicting scriptural scenes.

Fine art is now available from many places, and many Christians have at least one or two religious pieces on display. Primary art can be purchased as fine art and become a beautiful addition to a children's room, nursery or hallway.

Primary art should not be overlooked as a scripture or journal marker. Bookmarks with primary art or small size art prints can be purchased at a fairly low price and be an important addition to a child's gospel learning and study. Larger prints can be framed or just placed as posters in cases where fine art is not affordable or sensible.

Local art stores sometimes feature LDS primary art if there is enough of a demand in the area, but a large selection of LDS primary art is now becoming available through various sites on the internet via artists and other smaller distributors.
