5 Creative Ways to Enjoy Primary Art on a Budget

  1. Magazines - The best way to enjoy good LDS primary art without purchasing very much is to sign up for the Friend magazine, distributed by the LDS church. At the end of each one is a piece of artwork all ready to be cut out and mounted in an 8x10 frame, posted on a wall, or filed for future use. You can cut out pictures and create collages, put them in photo books that can then be used for very young children, or keep them for family home evening lessons.

  2. Free downloads – Some LDS artists offer free downloads of some of their paintings from the internet. These can be put in a folder for your children to view or possibly import into a create your own puzzle program. You may even print out a small one for personal use as a study aid. Many people keep their computers on all the time, you could use the primary art downloads as a screen saver or background that would help bring the spirit to your office space.

  3. Purchase with friends – Find a website that offers free shipping over a certain purchase amount, and ask some friends to make a group purchase so no one has to pay shipping. Sometimes artists offer a discount when purchasing in bulk.

  4. Create your own photos – Find or make your own costumes and sets and take photographs of yours or a friend's children in gospel scenes. Enlarge the pictures and frame them, or put them together in a book. These photos will be priceless and could easily be used as gifts to other family members and friends.

  5. Frame your children's art – Every child wants their art to be appreciated. You could have your children create their own primary art and then frame it and display it. Let them experiment with paints, pencils, crayons, collages, crayons, or anything else you may have laying around the house.
